Better answers, kinder spaces, and people you can count on

We're building a space where people can learn, share, and support each other without the noise or negativity you find elsewhere.

When you're figuring it out alone

Most new or experienced parrot owners start in the same place: Googling, scrolling, and hoping the advice you find is right. It doesn't take long to feel overwhelmed.

  • Searching forums and social media and still not knowing what advice to trust
  • Confusion about what's safe, healthy, or species-appropriate
  • Worrying you're missing something important
  • Feeling isolated when something goes wrong or you're worried about your bird

When you have a flock behind you

Good information and good people change everything. Inside The Kya Project, you get a supportive place to learn, ask questions, and connect with others who care.

  • Reliable, curated guidance from people who understand parrots and vet the information
  • A safe place to ask questions without being shamed or talked down to
  • Members who've faced similar challenges and are happy to share what helped
  • A supportive space where you don't have to go it alone, whether it's a big concern or a small “is this normal?” moment

Meet Kya, the bird who started it all

Kya's story is the heart of this community.

Kya was a blue-and-gold macaw who spent the first 35 years of her life locked in a tiny metal box. She was wild caught, then kept as a breeder bird. She was never touched, never let outside, never offered fresh food or clean water. When a rescue finally stepped in, everything changed.

Her recovery shaped everything we teach here: parrots thrive when people understand their needs, respect their instincts, and build healthy relationships with them.

This membership is named for her because she represents what's possible when humans do better.
